I think it's been almost a year since I last logged into DeviantArt, so please excuse my unresponsiveness to anyone who has tried contacting me!

The last few months focusing more on developing my traditional art skills and picking up some freelance projects every now and then, so unfortunately I don't have much to really show.  Soon I'll finish posting the work I've done for Guild Wars 2, but for the time being I'm focusing most of my 3d efforts in making items for DOTA2.

I'll try to post/respond more regularly from now on!!

Sorry for not writing or posting anything on DA for so long!  I actually went on vacation at the end of September to Korea and Japan for two weeks with some friends.

I had an absolutely great experience in Korea where I got to visit some of my friends over at the NCSoft headquarters.  NCSoft is huge!  It would definitely be cool to work in an environment like that some day.  It's definitely the most impressive work environment I've seen yet :)  My friends gave me some really neat Aion time cards that, while unusable outside of Korea, are definitely nice to look at.  After spending a few days in Seoul, we headed over to Daegu, my friend's hometown, where we climbed a mountain and visited a traditional Korean village that has remained relatively untouched for hundreds of years now.  I'm thankful to have so many friends there who made it such an unforgettable trip!

Japan was also fun, despite the constant rain while we were there.  We checked out TGS, spent a few days in Nikko, and wandered around Tokyo for a bit.  The rain really limited what we could do in Nikko, especially since I caught a cold around that time.  Anyway, I now have a new favorite clothing outlet:  Uniqlo!  I've always been floored by the clothing prices in Japan (but to be fair, I was probably looking in all the wrong places), but Uniqlo's are actually affordable, and the clothes fit me better than what I can find here in the States.  Too bad the only Uniqlo store in America is in New York :S

Things have been really busy since returning from the trip, but I spent most of this past weekend vegetating playing Aion and Dragonica.  Aion's the only game I can think of where I'm constantly impressed with the Character art as I run around town.  The faces and the hairs are amazing!  I do wish they would paint a little more lighting and color variation into the diffuse though...

Dragonica has a nice, clean, simple art style that's a lot of fun to look at.  I'm not sure how long I'll be playing it though, just because of the way they've set up the missions/instances.

At any rate, I'm hoping to post some new stuff soon (Provided I stop being so lazy after work)!

Post Pax '09!

2 min read
PAX went pretty well last weekend.  I would've posted about it earlier if my internet had not gone out at my apartment.  Not having internet access at home for several days is really annoying!  At least it gave me time to scrounge up a few more Warhammer shots to post.

Anyway, the artbook giveaway went really well (the book will be on sale sometime soon for those who couldn't make it).  I signed a lot of books, met some really nice, enthusiastic Guild Wars fans, and...managed to appear in a local Vietnamese Newspaper!

A Vietnamese reporter was wandering around the exhibition floor and after seeing my name, requested to take some pictures of me.  There are very few Vietnamese people working in this industry, so I guess I was representing the community in this large event :P  Unfortunately I grew up speaking Chinese, so I don't know what the article is saying.  I'm not really used to this sort of thing (especially since no one knows who I am!) but it was a pretty cool experience despite the embarrassment.

There was some pretty interesting stuff to see at PAX, but I was only there for a day and didn't have much time to check things out.

Anyone planning on attending PAX this year?  If so, make sure to swing by the ArenaNet booth!  We're giving away copies of the Guild Wars 2 artbook!

A few of my armor concepts in there, and I'll be there signing books for anyone who wants me to on Sunday, April 6th from 12:00 - 1:30 PM.  Hoping to see some of you there!

After over 2 years of silence, the first Guild Wars 2 trailer was unveiled at 3:00 AM PST during the GamesCom event in Germany.

If you haven't seen it by now, you can find the trailer pretty much every where (YouTube, GameTrailers, IGN, etc).  You can check out the game's website, which was launched shortly after this morning's screening.  I worked on some of the characters in the racial lineup towards the end of the video :)
